How the book got started
In our respective journeys, we had each grown weary of ugly partisanship. At the same time, we also knew that partisanship was not inherently bad, and that there were moral, productive, and uplifting ways to be partisan. Then we met at a panel presentation about two ministers from different faiths who were dialoguing with each other every weekend and who were getting hate mail from some of their religious colleagues as a result. Inspired by that example, the two of us embarked on a dialogue of our own, in order to explore and the potential value of dialogue across difference and to share our discoveries.
